It was ironic that we should become 'wags', for my father was with the B.E.F. and was at Dunkirk.
Sometime during the evacuation my mother received the dreaded telegram 'missing, believed killed in action' the family was devastated.
That same afternoon my father walked through the door, with his rifle slung over his shoulder.
I knew nothing about the telegram until I was in my late thirties. I was one at the time of Dunkirk.
