Hi all, While on my letter delivery in 1964 I saw a chap in his front garden working on a racing motorcycle, and as I and a few fellow ex moppers were well into the 1960's motor cycle scene and followed motor cycle racing,so we got chatting, and I was amazed to see that the bike was a much modified ex G.P.O. 125 c.c. bantam,it turned out he raced bantams with the bantam racing club and they scourced many of their parts from the old bikes that were auctioned of after G.P.O.service.Anyway it turned out he was getting it ready for the 125 c.c. race in the isle of man T.T. and it so happened that some of the lads and I were going that year, and I took this photo of it during the race, the bike was D1 with but modified rear suspension to swinging arm,it still had the old tank but fitted back to front ,the front brake seemed to be two standard hubs back to back, and it still had a lot of the original red paint .The bike was most likely not far of the ton when the picture was taken.I saw him again for the first time in all those years about two years ago whilst working in the callers office, and much supprised when I reminded him of the race, and he told me he finished the race within the qualifying time for a medal.
