Got the decorating finished new book shelves made & finished should know what I have now. My latest project is Mailvans of the 1930's. Can you imagine a large Van Producing company today reinstating an older model engine & transmission & fitting it to a New Model Chassis that the Purcheser wants shortened by 12 inches. Well Morris did in 1934 for the General Post Office. Probably due to the time of recession in the 1930's. The GPO purchased 50 of these " Bastard" vans for want of a better word . This was a stop gap as Morris in 1935 produced a new model that was accepted by the GPO hands down. Here is one of the Fifty vans at Upper Clovelly Post Office the mail is being transferred to a Donkey for onward transmission down the High Street Clovelly Devon to the Lower PO.Note the Royal Insignia ER in 1937!! this was Edward the 8th who abdicated later in the year to marry Mrs Simpson. OK it's off Topic but I bet some will enjoy. It is a Flat Nose Morris 10cwt or in PO terms a 70 cuft It was fitted with the earlier Bullnose Engine made by Morris Commercial.
