Hi Maurice> I too was a Sou West boy not Motorcycles as there were no vacancies in my day I was at Howick Place SWDO, then Buck Pal in 1956/57 then took the P&TO exam serving for 2 years at Regent St SW1. Where I met my best mate still are his Dad was an A/I at Battersea Frankie Giles his Uncle at Wandsworth SDO Twilley st OJC Sid Giles. I did my reserve finishing counter duties at Gloucester Road BO SW7. Returning to the DO for writing duties. I transferred then to Scotland, but life went pear shaped I caught virus meningitus, after 1 year sick I was transferred back to SWDO for the rest of my career on Light duties thanks to the UPW and Guvnors. 4 of my family are still in Royal Mail that makes over 200 years family service. I have 2 restored GPO Bantams 125 & 175 cc bikes, plus my self restored Morris Minor Mail Van. Living in Mitcham I often come past the Upper Tooting Office the Garage doors are still there. Thanks for all your stories Paul Wood Woodie 2396SW
